Bioech is becoming increasingly important in Austria and Styria. As a subfield within the life sciences, biotechnology deals with the use of cells, organisms or biomolecules in order to be able to develop new processes and products. At the interface of biology, medicine, chemistry and engineering, new applications are created for very different areas - from the agricultural sector to environmental science and health.
Styrian industrial companies such as ZETA and the GNN Group as well as leading research institutes such as Joanneum Research have long been part of the global biotech ecosystem and clearly reflect the potential of this region.
The focus of the two-day “1. Biotech Summit Austria” is therefore entirely focused on determining the location and international networking. And so researchers, investors and international key players of the biotech scene will meet in Graz to discuss trends and current developments and of course to exchange experiences, learnings and success stories. Around 150 leading representatives of Austrian and international biotechnology companies are expected.
Young talents and newcomers to the scene are also very welcome: students have free access to the job board and career sessions, and start-ups have the opportunity to present themselves and establish contacts with investors in the “start-up corner”.
