Estonian delegation visits Graz

H.E. Mr. Toomas Kukk, the Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia to Austria, his deputy Mrs. Marju Tooding and the Honorary Consul of Estonia Mr. Michael Seidl-Pohlros recently visited HTS to explore cooperation possibilities between Styria and Estonia in the field of Life Sciences.

Since the outbreak of the Corona pandemic, tightened travel conditions have made networking particularly difficult, especially at the international level. All the more we were pleased to receive this delegation visit from Estonia.

Styria as a medtech & pharmaceutical hub
Johann Harer (Managing Director of HTS) used the opportunity to present Styria and its economic and research landscape. In particular, he pointed out the fields of strength in the medical technology and pharmaceutical sectors. He also mentioned the pioneering role of Styria as Austria's first and only region for active and healthy aging that has been awarded by the EU.

Why Estonia?
Estonia's strengths are mainly in the areas of digitization, start-ups and education, where the first opportunities for cooperation may develop. Among other benefits, Estonia is the first to offer e-residency - a transnational digital identity available to anyone in the world who wants to manage an online business regardless of location.

Bilateral talks
In the next few weeks, a small bilateral team will analyze the areas of strength of Estonia and Styria and define corresponding areas of cooperation. In 2021 the most promising contacts could be deepened on a delegation trip to Estonia.
