"Human technology and life sciences are two of the strong fields within Styria. Due to the Corona pandemic, there is currently a strong focus on these areas. I am convinced that there is great potential in this area for the future: The Health Tech Hub Styria is a great initiative based on these disciplines and helps to establish international business relations on one hand and to strengthen them on the other hand. All relevant Styrian stakeholders are part of this event and therefore involved in its success. Our medical experts and researchers meet entrepreneurs, start-ups and investors - this is how regional competence and international performance are excellently brought together," says provincial councelor Barbara Eibinger-Miedl.
Cooperation as a benefit
Immediately after the event, the Geriatric Health Centers Graz, nowa and the Elisabethinen Hospital started their first cooperation talks with start-ups from Spain and Germany. Along with the gamification experts of the start-up RetroBrain from Hamburg and DARWIN Biomedical from Navarra/Spain in the field of rehabilitation, new solutions for the smart care of elderly people will be developed with the Geriatric Health Centers of the City of Graz and nowa.
Using an innovative messenger service from the start-up Allm EMEA from Erlangen in Germany, communication in times of crisis is going to be better managed with the Elisabethinen Hospital in the future. Among many other cooperation offers, there is also a concrete invitation to an EU research cooperation involving an international consortium of German and French hospital partners.
About the Corporate Call
The Corporate Call (formerly Corporate Challenge) was launched in 2020 by the Styrian Human Technology Cluster (Human.technology Styria) and aims to connect leading companies within the region who are looking for innovative solutions with the potential partners throughout Europe. The goal is to support Styrian leading companies in their next innovative step with the most outstanding solutions and thereby strengthen the innovative power of the region and the key companies themselves, through future-oriented partnerships and cooperations.
With the Corporate Call, the Styrian Human Technology Cluster already succeeded in the previous year in successfully connecting, among others, ams AG, Energie Steiermark and the private hospital operator SANLAS Holding with innovative partners across Europe.
However, the Corporate Call and the HTH also set the stage for the establishment of innovative life science companies in the region. For example, HTH 2020 was the first port of call for a young Slovenian-Italian MedTech start-up, which has meanwhile been successfully incubated in the Science Park Graz as a Styrian spin-off.
