"The "Enabling Digital Innovation" (EDI) funding project was the perfect opportunity to analyze and improve our innovation structures and processes."

Aurel Neic, Managing Director

EDI as a mainstay for the start-up
Gernot Plank, one of the co-founders of the NumeriCor GmbH, considers the mediation to First Contact with Enabling Digital Innovation (EDI) to be a happy coincidence. Why? "Because as a start-up run by scientists, NumeriCor had to put a lot of basics on a solid foundation." EDI was able to analyze and improve the innovation structures and processes, especially in the areas of innovation management, market analysis and product management.

Roadmap to Success for Simulation and Specialty Software
Aurel Neic, also co-founder of NumeriCor: "The aim was to develop new innovation structures and processes and to derive products and services from them that optimally suit us and our market." Transformation of existing and future technologies into competitive products: "This is the only way to turn the output into a real outcome, with which we can optimally survive on the market!"

Obstacles to growth eliminated by EDI
Even the best start-up has a hard time without a functioning basis – therefore: “Because the founding team had no business background, we lacked the know-how on how to document and evaluate the existing innovation ideas and convert them into products with the associated business plans ", says Gernot Plank. These essential components of entrepreneurial success were optimally covered by using the consulting service in the course of the EDI project.

Doubling of the customer base & new business areas
With the EDI-supported development of different product categories, it was possible to further diversify the product catalogue, explains Aurel Neic and explains: "The two existing software products were each structured into three subcategories and supplemented by support and training services. In addition, a series of expert interviews expanded our company network many times over.” With the new products, the start-up is addressing more customers of various sizes and has increased the customer base by over 200%: “Thanks to the findings from EDI, we have our product and innovations -Roadmap better structured and also want to open up new business areas in the field of clinical applications in the long term.

Cooperation at the highest level for a strong course for the future
The level of productivity was always high when it came to the cooperation with the Humantechnologie-Cluster Steiermark (HTS), both founders are enthusiastic: “When handling the EDI project, we worked together with Ms. Regina Werkl on the part of the HTS. In order to determine the need for support, the exchange was more intensive, especially at the beginning of the project, when the innovation audit was carried out.” The next steps consist of company growth, improvement of products and services and the expansion of sales processes. In addition, the next product generations are being worked on with international university partners.
