Start-up against antibiotic resistance
Eva Sigl explains the core task of Qualizyme: "Our almost 10-strong team researches and develops future-oriented solutions for humans and animals in medical technology in the field of infection diagnostics, which are intended to avoid the unnecessary use of antibiotics." This makes an important contribution to global health.
EDI for resistance to obstacles to growth
The EDI funding project, which is being handled by Human.technology Styria (HTS), helped to establish a sustainable innovation process and new, agile innovation methods in the company: "Thanks to EDI, we were able to create an innovation process that was tailor-made for us and based on the process develop prototypes as early as the project and with the entire team,” analyzes Eva Sigl. Before EDI, no targeted innovations were carried out within the company, primarily because no suitable innovation methods or processes could be identified to date.
From consulting to QM and design thinking to patenting
"We used the funding for the consulting project, which ran until the end of October 2021 and established a sustainable innovation process and helped to produce a new prototype in a newly identified area using the process," outlines Eva Sigl. The goal of a sustainable innovation process tailored to the company, which is anchored in the quality management system, has already been achieved. There is also great news: "The developed prototype, which was developed using a design thinking process in the project with the entire team, is currently being examined in terms of patent law!"
Cooperation for a technology boost
Eva Sigl: "Most of the consultations took place in personal consultations, but of course also in digital form due to the corona!" With the help of the process defined in this way, it was possible to develop new technologies in a targeted and systematic manner and to carry out innovation processes without friction. In this way, sustainability thinking and innovation management could permanently find their way into the management level.
To new business fields with new learnings
The prototype developed in the process may open up a new business field, whereby new fields of action were also identified: "A positive side effect of the project was the empowerment of the team. The strengths of the company were redefined and a new, more holistic vision was set up!” Eva Sigl is enthusiastic about the HTS initiative EDI.
